Best Strategies for Success on Social Media As An Adult Creator

The author shares insights on effective social media platforms for adult creators, highlighting Threads, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok. Key strategies include consistent posting, engaging with audiences, using tags, and adhering to platform guidelines. Ultimately, focusing on one or two platforms initially is advised for optimal growth and audience building.

There are so many social media platforms out there and it can be hard to know which are best to leverage as an adult creator, I have rounded my experience with the top converting platforms to make it easier for you to decide. Check out the info below for advice on how to best grow on these platforms!

Threads

Threads is a platform that came out of left field for me. I can honestly admit that I didn’t use it for quite some time until my gorgeous friend Melrose said she was seeing significant success there. Over the course of a few weeks she was able to get over 10K followers and is still seeing consistent growth there! Most platforms it is difficult to reach non-followers, on Threads though most of your reach seems to be non-followers, as evidenced by the below screenshot of my current insights.

When it comes to Threads, posting between 9am-1pm PST does well, with the exception of Fridays where 2pm PST works best. Posting consistently on Threads will make the biggest difference though, to earn you a larger audience. Using the tags system on Threads is also incredibly helpful when it comes to engagement and growth. This blog post from SocialChamp goes into much more detail on how to grow on Threads and why it is important.

Instagram

Instagram is by far my favorite platform when it comes to curating a following and gaining new subscribers. It took me about a year to figure out how to grow there without getting banned (more advice on that later) but now that I have learned my reach grows daily with my highest account having a 30 day reach of 1.1 Million!

My top tips for growing on Instagram:

  • Post consistently (2-4 time a day) for 4-6 weeks before you decide Instagram isn’t for you
  • Create a carousel or photo post at least weekly to keep variety
  • Post stories daily, the more often you do, the more people will view your stories

Youtube

In late 2023/early 2024 Youtube took over as the fastest way for adult creators to grow their audience. Like most platforms consistency is crucial on Youtube. For best results pick one day a week to post on Youtube and stick to that day, posting more often can be helpful but only if you can upkeep that routine. Using Youtube shorts can also be beneficial to growing your channel but ensure they are PG.

Tiktok

Tiktok is baaackkk baby! I was hardly the only person who gave up on Tiktok. Between bans, a constantly changing algorithm and community guidelines that made it very hard to grow many adult creators walked away from the platform in 2023. I was included in this list of creators, but recently I heard rumblings that Tiktok was becoming successful again, using both trending and original audio. After some trial and error, I can confirm that this is true!

Keep in mind that you need to abide by the even more strict community guidelines and post frequently but as of October 2024, Tiktok is back when it comes to bringing in new subscribers.

When it comes to best using Tiktok to grow and earn subscribers you should be grinding hard for that first 1k followers! Once you can go live it opens up a whole new world, you grow fastest when you go live on TikTok since it allows potential followers to interact and get to know you better. As far as earning those first thousand followers, it’s harder than it was in the past but I have a few tips to help you get there:

  • Find your target audience, and create content for them
  • Use trends and tailor them to your niche
  • Check your analytics often and post at times that are best for YOU

No matter what social media platforms you choose to use to promote your content keep in mind that it won’t be helpful if you create an account and never post there. Before you jump all in on every single platform pick one or two and build a presence there first. For me those places were Reddit & Twitter, which frankly I have now chosen to post less frequently in favor of Tiktok and Instagram. I’d love to know in the comments below which platforms perform best for you.
