Optimizing Instagram Growth: Adult Content Creator Tips

I don’t think it’s a secret to anyone that Instagram is where it’s at currently, when it comes to promoting your adult content. But it is also no secret that growing on Instagram can be a challenge if you don’t know what you’re doing. I wish I had had a guide like this one starting…

I don’t think it’s a secret to anyone that Instagram is where it’s at currently, when it comes to promoting your adult content. But it is also no secret that growing on Instagram can be a challenge if you don’t know what you’re doing. I wish I had had a guide like this one starting out, maybe I wouldn’t have lost four accounts before gaining success LOL. I hope you can learn from my mistakes, and flourish as a creator. These are a few of my favorite tips when it comes to growing on Instagram. Want to chat with me 1×1 and get more advice? Use my referral link when you create your account!

Getting Started

You might be surprised to find that creating an account and posting your most viral TikTok on day one is not the best strategy to grow on Instagram. It is a platform that needs to trust that you’re not a bot or spam account before pushing your content to new followers, so that changes how you should start your account.

First: Create your account make sure your username is something that stands out, but try to avoid referencing your spicy sites, or using anything too suggestive as it will work against you. The next part is VERY IMPORTANT! Let that account sit empty for 48 hours, this will ensure Instagram trusts you and knows you aren’t a bot or spam. I recently had a friend create an account and he immediately starting posting, when he went to boost his account on day three, he couldn’t do it. He took too many actions immediately after starting.

Next: Congrats, your account is created! It’s time to post your first reel, be sure it is vanilla so you aren’t immediately banned. Then head to your main account, or your largest and share this reel to your story. I like to ask my followers in that story to follow my backup (or new) account, but that is just my personal preference. Continue to do this for about a week, or until the reach on this new account hits 1K views on its own.

Profile Basics

Even your profile picture matters when you’re starting an Instagram account, make sure it’s a cute pic but not too revealing. Show off your smile! If you don’t show face, you can do like I did on ItsAmeliaRae and do a partial face picture.

Another important piece to keep in mind is how you share your links, Instagram has been cracking down on adult creators, so using Linktree is likely to get your account removed or flagged so it is not being shown to new followers. A great alternative is to use Beacons or Fanberry which are less likely to cause issues for you, while still allowing you to direct people to your paid sites. It should also be noted that

What to Post

What to post on Instagram is a delicate dance. One of my great friends, shoutout Raelynn Beamz calls it being “secret sexy” you want to be suggestive while avoiding showing too much skin. Showing too much skin can be a great way to get your account flagged or even removed. As your account grows in size it will be easier to get away with some things but I strongly suggest leaning into your hobbies or interests. Porn is free, it’s the engagement and personality your subscribers are paying for, showing it off on your socials is an excellent way to draw them in. Some of my subscribers enjoy safe for work chatting with me because we share similar interests and hobbies, we recommend anime to each other, talk about new games and share our gaming setups.

When to Post

I’ve heard more than a few opinions on when the best time to post on Instagram is. This article from SocialPilot breaks it down on the best time each day, while this one from Sprout has the best days of the week included as well.

For me personally I like to dig into my statistics to see when Instagram recommends I post. Your Instagram insights are an amazing tool when it comes to finding out when you should post, both times and days. I was surprised when I looked today to find that my recommended time is now 9am, it had been 12pm for weeks, so it’s crucial to check your insights often, to ensure your content is preforming best.

Encouraging Engagement

It’s no secret that engagement is important for growth, on any social media platform and Instagram is no different. There are a few things I do to encourage engagement or growth on my posts and reels. One is to like and share your post from your backup account immediately after posting. I also like to share my reels to my stories on my other accounts and ask my friends to share the reel to boost it right away. An update in June 2024 is showing that Instagram is pushing reels based on their shares, so having those backup accounts or a community to share your reels will make a huge difference in your views! To see more updates and how you can maximize your efforts, read this article.

Another great way to encourage engagement on your reels is to reply to comments, or ask an open ended question in your caption. This helps bring viewers back to your post, thus increasing your views. I like to reply and ask a question, or start a small conversation in my comment section. You can also create a poll on your post, to allow people to vote on it.

My last recommendation for encouraging engagement on your Instagram profile is to post engaging Instagram stories, using the polls or question sticker. Creating a sort of Q&A weekly is a great way to get to know your followers, and to allow them to get to know you. Showcasing your personality is what will help you gain both followers and subscribers!

I hope these tips help you succeed, Instagram can be tricky, it takes 4-6 weeks of posting multiple times a day before you really see growth on your account. Stick with it and I promise you’ll see it pay off!
